Setting the Tone: Schwarzenegger Conducts the Wiesn

Midway through the Wiesn, a dash of Hollywood arrived. This celebrated Oktoberfest enthusiast certainly couldn’t resist the opportunity to create an incredible atmosphere in the Marstall tent: Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor and former Governor of California, took to the beer tent stage on Friday and used his conductor’s baton to energize the guests. The crowd was ecstatic: a Hollywood legend in traditional Bavarian attire and full of festive spirit, that got Wiesn hearts beating faster and the mood soaring.

The 78-year-old arrived on Thursday for a private Wiesn visit with his partner Heather Milligan and son Christopher, a visit that would have initially gone almost unnoticed. But then “Arnie” stepped forward for photographers and caused a sensation on the beer tent stage as a conductor.
“Italian Weekend” at the Wiesn
The middle Wiesn weekend is also known as the “Italian Weekend”: Approximately 15 percent of all international Wiesn visitors are Italian. The Munich “Festa della Birra” is extremely popular among them. New this year is the “Espresso Monaco,” a special train service from Rome to Munich, which is expected at the main station this afternoon. The Oktoberfest police are once again supported by colleagues from Italy, and the fire department also receives reinforcement from Bolzano.
