In 1976, Jordan served as a substitute drummer for the American jazz group Stuff. Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, he was also part of the band that frequently performed on the Saturday Night Live late-night sketch comedy show. From 1982 to 1986, he was a member of the band that played regularly on Late Night with David Letterman.
During the 1970s, he toured with English singer Joe Cocker as well as the Blues Brothers, contributing to nine albums by the latter. In the 1980s, he became part of the band Eyewitness alongside jazz guitarist Steve Khan, bassist Anthony Jackson, and percussionist Manolo Badrena.
As part of Keith Richards’ side project, Xpensive Winos, Jordan contributed to songwriting and co-produced three albums: “Talk is Cheap” in 1988, “Main Offender” in 1992, and “Crosseyed Heart” in 2015.
Jordan joined The John Mayer Trio in 2005, working alongside bassist Pino Palladino and singer John Mayer. In 2006, he toured with Eric Clapton for his European shows, continuing to perform across North America with Clapton and his group the following year.
Together with his wife, Meegan Voss, he is part of the band The Verbs, which released two albums: “And Now… The Verbs” and “The Trip.” Meegan had previously performed with punk bands like the Poptarts and the Antoinettes.
